About Me

I have been working on my Dissertation about Milblogs by US soldiers in the Iraq War since early 2006. The first years I was financed by a scholarship from the Landesgraduiertenförderung Baden-Würrtemberg and a small job for my advisor Prof. Dr. Tonn in the Special Research Project War Experience. Now I have been hired by the American Studies department of the University of Tübingen  as a ‘Wissenschaftliche Angestellte’. The job consists of teaching cultural studies and literature classes and establishing a helpdesk for students of the department, so I  am busy with consulting students as well.

I wrote my Masters Thesis on Authenticity and Saving Private Ryan. The in depth examination of the film really got me interested in the aesthetics and patterns of representations of war in popular culture and I decided to focus on Milbogs for my dissertation.

Since then I have gotten into New Media studies and War studies and am trying to combine both in my current project. Next to that I have always been interested in popculture and postcolonial studies and have been publishing a bit in both areas.
